WHAT TO SEE

Virgin Islands BRITANNICHE: VIRGIN GORDA - North Sound

Spanish Town, the only town in the southern part of the island with a handful of interesting houses scattered in the countryside. To reach tranquil North Sound you cross the northern part of Virgin Gorda, dominated by the 450 meter tall Gorda Peak, and undulating hills. This is scenic road descends to the sea at Leverick Bay a focal point of the greater North Sound.

The west coast of the island is fringed by a magnificent series of beaches including Long Bay, Nail Bay (with the ruins of an old sugar factory), Mahoe Bay (with a narrow white sand beach), and Savannah Bay (a *desert*, stretching over a wide crescent-shaped bay, with coral reefs around which to snorkel) Just beyond, At the southern tip of Virgin Gorda is Little Dix Bay "with The Baths," surreal, magical landscapes with huge boulders of granite resting on the white beach, creating a labyrinth of caves and indoor pools.
