TURKS & CAICOS HISTORY

From sugar slaves to global tourism

TURKS & CAICOS: PROVIDENCIALES

Simply called Provo, measures 97 square kilometers, it is slightly hilly, bordered by spectacular beaches and a turquoise sea. Has 6,000 inhabitants and it is the most developed island of the archipelago.

The main center is Turtle Cove Marina, the most popular is Grace Bay Beach, 12 miles long, which has focused most of the resort.
North Point is the northernmost point of Providenciales.
At Long Beach, there is The Hole, a cave with a salt water pool on the bottom. The South Coast of the island is occupied by the great Chalk Sound, a kind of large internal lake, closed by a lot of coral cays, with stunning turquoise waters. Among the curiosities of the island, the Conch Farm, a unique breeding point.
