BVI HISTORY

From sugar slaves to global tourism

BVI: Jost van Dyke

Jost Van Dike is a hilly small islet: only 8 kmq. and 130 persons are living there. Took the name by the omonimous Dutch pirate. Lonely and peaceful has no airport and can be reached only by sea. Still retains the charm of the ancient Caribbean, the only smallvillage is Great Harbour. Little Harboue and White bay are wonderful white sandy beaches, Bubbling point is a lively indoor salt-water pool that offers anatural jacuzzi. Sandy point is a tiny islet.

CLIMATE

The climate of the  BVI is one of the most pleasing of the region. The trade winds provide a comfortable temperature all year long and keeps low levels of air humidity. The climate is tipically subtropical and there are two main seasons: summer from may to october with average temperature from 26/31 C°. and winter from november to april when temperature ranges between 22/28 C°.
