Casa de Campo - La Estancia Golf Course

Like the nearby Dye Fore layout at Casa de Campo, La Estancia is another dramatic design, with the Chavon River valley frequently providing a spectacular backdrop to this wonderfully challenging golf layout.

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Casa de Campo - La Estancia Golf Course

The imposing golf course, designed by the world-famous P. B. Dye is located in the residential community  of  "La Estancia Golf Resort". This professional golf course is 7,382 yards long from the back tee, and promises great emotions to anyone who dares to confront it.

Is the most recent addition (2007) to the golfing scene in Dominican's La Romana area. Laid out on generally open and undulating terrain, the course is perched above the immensely scenic Chavon River and the beautiful ravine of Tanamà. It is set amidst large canyon views with a winding river navigating below the 400 foot valleys. Spectacular views down into the tree-lined river valley can be enjoyed from many vantage points on the course. Good-width fairways lead you to well bunkered and often seriously mounded green complexes, where the putting surfaces have been crafted with a mesmerising array of slopes and borrows. The approach to several greens require nerve-jangling shots over or alongside stretches of the canyon-like river valley, where anything too wayward will disappear into terrain that tumbles several hundred feet down towards the river.

Players looking for a challenge will flock to this location, as every shot requires thought and precision. You will not find a boring hole on this design, and the amount of earth that was moved to make this possible is remarkable. The development is just getting underway, and an experienced team is leading the charge to make this a top spot in the Domican Republic. The project is just 5 minutes away from the La Romana Intl. Airport with facilities and capacity to lodge airplanes of any size.

Top Holes

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Casa de Campo - La Estancia Golf Course

                        Hole 2                                                          Hole 5

Hole 2, Par 5, 555y - You might come off the first hole with confidence, but you will not be prepared for the sight before your eyes at number 2. A 230-yard carry to the fairway across a canyon is scenic, but the thought of losing a ball is real. Cut it short and you are faced with a long second shot to a lay-up area that leads you to an elevated green. This one looks nice, but it will leave you exhausted.

Hole 5, Par 3,  138y - If the wind is at your back this is a soft wedge that will linger in the air before it flops down on a green way below you. If you over club you face a difficult chip back up to the green. You’ll never stick it, so suck it up and take your two putt.

Hole 18

Hole 18, Par 4,  416y - Water along the left side tempts you to cut the corner. My normal slice turns into a hook and I find myself right at the waters edge. The hole looks incredible and is not all that difficult unless you try to take the shortcut. This is a very nice finishing hole.
