No sinful freedom in the Cayman Islands, no "smoke", no
SALSA, no sex, no Rasta underworld, there is no people playing in the street and
nobody asks you for money. Maybe the banks, but with a lot of discretion. But
are not the Caymans the mythical Tortuga, a land of buccaneers, rum and hidden
treasures in the adventurous era of the pirates? Tortugas was the name given by
Christopher Columbus, who landed on an unknown island full of turtles. Then the
Corsair of the British Queen, Sir Francis Drake gave the name to the Cayman
because he found sea crocodiles thankfully disappeared. The Cayman now have
nothing to do with their tumultuous past. You will miss the hot atmosphere and
the music of the tropics, but they represent a phenomenon unique in the
Caribbean as a way of life, which is the highest in the region with zero
unemployment, total racial integration between whites and blacks, and no violent
incidents or theft. The Cayman Islands are very special, ranging from business
men with briefcase, to divers with last cry Scuba, from the English that verify
the results of cricket drinking a gin and tonic. These islands are also very
colorful, especially under the water: coral reefs, bright orange anglerfish,
rays harmless and reggae rhythms along the streets. People are relaxed, the
winds make more noise than the traffic. All is quiet, at the Cayman Islands,
except the stock exchange with crazy swings taking off the smile to the business
men.
This is one of the most impenetrable tax havens of the world, with absolute
anonymity and unusual tax freedom. But the Cayman sea, beaches with palm trees
and blue sky are exactly Caribbean. High level indeed.Want breathtaking emotions?
Go diving into Bloody Bay Wall on Little Cayman, perhaps the most dramatic cliff
in the blue Caribbean, which ensures an unforgettable dive. Even the jagged
black rock formations in the north-west of Grand Cayman are impressive. Seeing
them, a British officer said: "The Hell must be like this." |
