TERRITORY

The largest of the Grenadines with its 33kmq., also the most populated : 6.000 people divided in African and Scottish. The Arawak indians, that was the population that Colombo met on these islands while searching the West Indies called it the island of cliffs coral reefs. Is drawn wonderful bays, some of them provide safe anchorages such as Tyrell bay on the south-west coast, while a red hilly range is studded by old mills and Great houses ruins. Every year at the beginning of august takes place a famous regatta of island built sailboats.

 

CLIMATE

Weather is tropical, cooled by trade winds and pleasing all year long. Temperatures range from 24 to 30° C. There are two seasons: the dry one from jenuary to May and the rainy from June to December, with hurricanes risks from september to november. The tropical downpour rarely lasts more than one hour. The fresher months are november-march, the hottest is september.
